The Dimetis Broadcast OSS Platform® is organized into the five functional groups shown above and modeled on the concepts laid out in the ITU – T, TMN and TMF work. All functionalities shown are designed to work individually or together as an integrated whole to provide maximum flexibility and backward compatibility. - Network Element -> Element Management
Network Elements are all devices used by the networks and monitored by the OSS management. - Network Element Management -> Integration
This is the layer which manages each Network Element conveying commands and replies and then informs the higher layers in an efficient and scalable way. It supports multiple disparate types of Network Elements and therefore integrates all the Networks Elements of the Broadcast network. - Network Management -> Assurance
This is the layer which monitors the network, reporting any faults or errors that occur and insuring that the network recovers in an fast and efficient manner. The multiple functions within the Assurance Layer offer robust Quality Assurance required from a network. - Service Management -> Fulfillment
This is where orders or the events generated by/for the customer, are processed and matched to the capacities and characteristics of the network. - Business Management -> Customer Care
This is where information about the quality of Services and the fulfilment of the Service Level Agreements [SLA] are collated and transformed into information needed to show the customer proof of service, invoicing and strategic inputs for business planning. Monitoring, setup & teardown of connections are provided at each network element. The devices [N.E.] can be SNMP, TMN Q3 or COBRA compatibles or have proprietary MIBs. - Control of all devices e.g.:
- Network nodes (e.g. switches, routers)
- Terminal equipment (e.g. distribution amplifier, converter)
- Universal Element Management Administration
Monitoring, control and the setup & teardown of connections are provided inside the networks (based on SDI, SDH, ATM, DTM, DVB or IP technologies) - HW and SW to scale up the control of all devices e.g.:
- Software module to manage up to 1000+ nodes and 10000+ parameters
- Software capable of processing Network nodes (e.g. switches, routers)Local controllers at remote sites
(connecting remote devices and pre-filtering commands, controls and status)
- Multiple system interfaces
- Monitoring
- Status of network components (switches, routers etc.) directly or via local controllers
- Status of links/connections
- Reporting of messages
- Graphical display of the actual device status
